As usual since several editions ago, the MXGP Argentina YPF INFINIA show moved to the centre of Villa La Angostura. The riders arrived at CEF N°7, for the signing session in front of hundreds of fans who came to take a souvenir and a picture with their idols.
Meanwhile, at the circuit, the pre-event checks, press conferences and the various official activities scheduled for the first day of this eighth edition of the MX World Championship took place.
Patagonia Race Track: The last dance
The MXGP Argentina YPF INFINIA 2024 will be the last edition to be held at the mythical Patagonia Race Track. During the opening press conference of the 2024 season of the World Championship, David Eli (Head of +Eventos) talked about what will be the farewell of the best circuit: «Unfortunately, this is the last year of MXGP Argentina in this venue as it has a new owner and his project is not compatible with our actions. We are already looking for a new venue, maybe not in the Village, but surely somewhere nice in Neuquén, which will be defined in the next 90 days. We will have a new circuit, with the same mysticism that this one has, and with possibilities, perhaps, of having a better connectivity that can make it easier for the fans to arrive. We wish to continue for many years, beyond a contract, because of a commitment we have made to Infront. We wish the championship an excellent season. Due to the size and growth of this championship, we are proud of being the opening event of each season.
David Luongo (CEO Infront Moto Racing) also talked about this new MXGP round in Villa La Angostura: «Thank you for the work we did all together. I want to highlight the work done by the FIM and the local organizer (+Eventos), which shows that the collaboration of all parts can achieve miracles». He also made an important announcement about the category: «By 2026 there will be a new electric motocross championship that will compete as a support category in the MXGP and that will have five or six rounds in the year».
Antonio Alia Portela (FIM/CMS Director) said: «I want to highlight the effort made by David Eli who worked hard to get us all back here. Without him, nobody would be here today. Thank you for everything.
