MXGP Argentina circuit was chosen as the best in the world calendar for five seasons in a row and is one of the riders’ favorites. Lucas De La Fuente, its designer, gives us details about the track where everyone will have a real party this weekend in Villa La Angostura.
Coming soon! The teams are arriving to the circuit. The public is arriving for their stay in Villa La Angostura. Everyone is eager to see the best Motocross riders in the world in a unique environment.
The Patagonia Race Track will be the battlefield for the riders who will try to get as many points as possible in this third round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. Lucas De La Fuente, the designer of the 1600-meter track which has jumps and fast turns, tells us how he is getting ready to receive the third round of the MXGP.
«The circuit is basically the same as before, but since we haven’t had any activity for more than two years, we had to work on the soil, since it gets compacted with time and is also degraded by the rain, the low temperatures and the snow. Since we haven’t used it for so long, a lot of work has to be done on the aesthetic level,» De La Fuente said, in a moment of rest in so many days of work.
The track was created in 2015 to receive the first edition of the MXGP Argentina and is one of the newest on the calendar. «In the world of Motocross this is a modern circuit. In Europe, there are classic tracks, more twisty, with hairpins, ideal for the two-stroke bikes which dominated the world championship in the past. This one, on the other hand, is much more fluid, wider and faster», its designer explained.
Chosen five times as the best circuit in the calendar by the World Championship Organization, the circuit is recognized by all the protagonists and also by the spectators: «The riders love Patagonia Race Track and also do everyone else who come from other countries, as they not only enjoy the circuit but also the whole event. I think that together with +Eventos we have worked so that everything is perfect, both inside the circuit and in the surroundings», De La Fuente added.
Finally, the former rider left a comment to the public: «When we made the circuit, apart from thinking about the sport itself, we always took the public into account. A clue moment was when we discovered the hill where now the public of the General Sector is located since from there you can see almost 90% of the circuit and it is definitely my favorite place».
The MXGP Argentina action will start tomorrow with the previous activities: the press conference, an autograph signing session and the debut of the MXGP Academy for the youngest riders. On Saturday, the activity on track will start with two practices for both categories, MXGP and MX2, and then it will be the time for the qualifying races. On Sunday, we will have the two races of each category.
