The sixth edition of the MXGP Argentina started with an excellent day with awesome weather and lots of good news, among them, the confirmation of the next edition of the event that has already become a classic in Villa La Angostura. Tomorrow, the action at the Patagonia Race Track is due to start.

The third round of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2022 is already underway in Villa La Angostura. The teams are already settled in the paddock and the riders started to arrive at the Patagonia Race Track to finalize details for the first tests that will take place tomorrow from 10:45 am.

Presentation and confirmations

The good news started early this morning, with the official presentation of the event, with local and provincial authorities, the organizer, the promoter, and FIM authorities. In this meeting with the media, the Governor of the Province of Neuquén, Omar Gutiérrez, was very happy about the return of the MXGP to Villa La Angostura and took the opportunity to announce that next year the race will visit this place again.

«This competition allows us to integrate and get closer to the world. This new edition is the result of two years of understanding. That is why I want to announce that next year, the MXGP World Championship will also be held in Villa La Angostura», the Governor said.

David Luongo, CEO of Infront Moto Racing, said: «Argentina was the first event we had to cancel due to the pandemic, and the fact that the first race outside Europe was again in Patagonia after the COVID-19 period is very important for us. I think there is no doubt that Villa La Angostura has one of the best tracks in the world», and added: «When we were coming on the plane, I saw the smiles of everyone because for us this is paradise».

Finally, the owner of +Eventos, David Eli was also happy to return with the MXGP to Neuquén and thanked the effort of the local and provincial governments to carry out the event: «I just want to thank the many people who put their effort to make this happen, especially the services provided by the province, which many times are not seen, but who are always ready to help, whenever we need them.»

MXGP Academy: The youngest ones get their own place

MXGP Argentina 2022 was the debut of the MXGP Academy, a space created for the youngest riders to learn from the best. Jan Postena and John Van Der Berk were the instructors in charge of teaching a group of 15 future Argentinean stars lessons about the techniques on the bike and tips to become good athletes, such as nutrition, behavior on the track, and physical preparation.

The riders and the public:  love at first sight

If there is something that the protagonists of this event enjoy is their relationship with the public. And the autograph session was the ideal moment to ratify that love between the fans and the riders. A crowd gathered at CEF7 in Villa La Angostura to greet their idols and take a souvenir before the start of the action. Besides, people were able to enjoy musical shows and visit the stands of the local entrepreneurs’ fair called Neuquén Emprende.

Tomorrow, action on the track

On Saturday, the long-awaited moment arrives. The engines will start roaring early, and after the test of the start gate demonstration, the first free practices for MX2 and MXGP will take place. They will start at 10:45hs.

At 13:20hs it will be the turn for the time practices.  The qualifying races for both categories will take place from 15:15hs.
