The MXGP Argentina YPF to be held this weekend is getting closer and closer, and while details are being finalized at the new Infinito Race Track, the teams are already arriving in the city of Cordoba. The Motocross World Championship is already in full swing in the midland province!

The containers that transport all the Motocross World Championship teams equipment have already started to settle at the Infinito Race Track Paddock, where the first round of the 2025 season will take place this weekend (March 1st and 2nd). The competition will have a new stage that will receive the Argentinean and South American fans who are eagerly waiting for this opportunity to see their MXGP idols up close, in the only round of the event in the American continent.

Finally, 81 riders will take part in theseason opener, including 45 riders in the main category and another 36 in the MX2 category -the category reserved for riders under 23 years of age-.

In addition to renowned riders such as Tim Gajser, Rubén Fernández, Jeremy Seewer -now with Ducati, making his debut in the championship in Argentina- or Romain Febvre, among others, the race will have 21 representatives in the MXGP category that will participate to win the Latin American Motocross Championship -among which we will see Argentinean Joaquín Poli, Lautaro Toro, Juan Ignacio Salgado and Agustín Carrasco- and another 14 riders that will race in MX2.

Joaquín Poli, the Argentinean who rides with Kawasaki, upon arriving at the Infinito Race Track said: “The track looks spectacular, it is a track worthy of a world championship. I’m very happy to have another world championship circuit here in Argentina, moreover in Cordoba because I’m living here, so I’m very happy. I feel very good on the bike. I am very motivated for this weekend”. At the same time, he made a small analysis of the new circuit compared to the previous one in Villa La Angostura: “Starting with the terrain, it is very different, there it was like a half-black sand and volcanic ash that had a lot of grip. Here it is like more soil, but I see that they have thrown a lot of sand on top, we have to see how it reacts when we start to move the terrain, if it becomes soft, or if it compacts and starts to become hard. Then something important we are going to have to deal with is the rain, so we have to see if the mud gets slippery, so we are all waiting to see how the terrain will react”.

Naturally, this Thursday, as soon as riders landed at the circuit, they quickly took the opportunity to walk the new track, which promises to be technically and physically challenging. On the bike, the riders will have just a few practice sessions to get familiar with the new track before the qualifying rounds on Saturday afternoon and the races on Sunday. It will be an intense weekend, with the best motocross in the world and thousands of fans eagerly awaiting the start of another edition of the MXGP Argentina YPF.
