Villa La Angostura is already enjoying the FIM Motocross World Championship. After having passed the technical verifications, the riders are ready to start MXGP Patagonia Argentina with a record number for this event in Neuquen.
The seventh edition of MXGP Argentina has started with a great party. This Friday, the fans had their first contact with their idols at the fantastic pre-event show which was held in the center of Villa La Angostura.
This event opens the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship and it will also be valid as the sole round of the Campeonato Latinoamericano FIM de Motocross. The action on the track will start tomorrow with the first tests during the morning. In the afternoon, we will have the chance to watch the debut of the Qualifying Race both for MXGP and MX2.
A show to the rhythm of Monster
The MXGP party moved to the center of Villa La Angostura. MXGP is a category which still keeps the link between the riders and the fans. The idiosyncrasy of this championship was more evident than ever on Friday afternoon, where a crowd gathered to greet the riders who will compete in the Patagonia Race Track this weekend.
The celebration started with the autograph signing session and the presentation of the main protagonists of the MXGP: the riders. The public could see up close the best riders in the world who, as every year, were happy to come back to our country.
Later, the fans enjoyed an incredible freestyle demonstration that amazed and entertained them to the beat of the Monster Energy Drink DJ to close a magnificent pre-event show.
Record number of entries for the 7th edition of MXGP Argentina
It was a busy day for the members of every area of the FIM Motocross World Championship as well as for the riders.
Throughout the day, the teams were busy getting the bikes ready and passing the technical verifications, while the riders carried out different public relations and press actions, in an intense day, taking into account that it was the first weekend of activity of the season.
After the technical verifications, a significant number of riders will take part in this edition that will surely be remembered as one of the best. In particular, the most significant fact is the final number of riders in the MXGP class, which will be 41 riders.
The event was introduced by local authorities
In the morning, the authorities of the province of Neuquén officially presented the race at the Convention Centre in the city of Villa La Angostura . The event was headed by the Governor, Omar Gutiérrez and the Minister of Tourism, Sandro Badilla. The event was also attended by the Minister of Sports, Alejandra Piedecasas, the Mayor of the city of Villa la Angostura, Fabio Stefani, and the organizers of the competition, represented by David Eli and Lucas de la Fuente, the designer of the multi-awarded circuit.
Omar Gutierrez valued the «great public policy that is the sport in the province of Neuquen». «We have a sporty community», he said, and that is why the government «promotes and raises the flag of this great revolution of sport and culture in the province».
Sandro Badilla said: «It is a joy to be just hours away from the start of one of the most important sporting events in the world in the province of Neuquen. We will be welcoming in Villa la Angostura tourists from different parts of the world, many fans who usually follow this motocross championship».
David Eli, head of +Eventos, said: «Those of us who love this competition are very grateful to the Governor for having kept this event going for so long and we hope it will continue. It will be a first-class event and we dream of regaining the award of being the best circuit and the best organization in the world by the end of the year.
Track action begins
The riders will start the ction on the track this Saturday at 10:45am with the Free Practices. The peak of the action will be the Qualifying Races (20 minutes + 2 laps) for each category, starting at 15:25hs.
